About UtART

Uta was born in 1969 in the beautiful baroque city of Dresden and spent most of her life there. In 2015 she moved her love to Leipzig.

Her passion are old paintings and visiting museums, her favourite painter is Pierre-Joseph Redoute.
Floral motifs and colours are the basis and inspiration of her work. She loves romantic vintage designs and the glamour of the past. For many years Uta has been collecting books with antique illustrations, drawings of historical pharmacy plants, lush tropical plants and roses.

Uta describes her approach to pattern design as drifting. The result of the creation is usually unpredictable at the beginning of the work. In the end, she adds different backgrounds to the flowing compositions of colours and motifs in order to create variations of completely new patterns.
Her strengths are the ability to observe, the eye for details, the never-tiring curiosity for discoveries and the ability to reflect the insights gained and translate them into abstract form.
