'The Body as Archive' – nomination at the San Francisco Dance Film Festival for the dance and research film documentary by DOP ALEXANDER BASILE and Director Michael Maurissens

The dance and research film documentary 'The Body as Archive' was nominated at the San Francisco Dance Film Festival. For the film, leading scientists and brain researchers worldwide were consulted as well as important dancers, choreographs and culture scientists. This highly complex film deals with the question of whether the body can function as an archive of movement and is, at the same time, interwoven with impressive filmed dance sequences.

GoSee member Alexander BASILE stood as DOP behind the camera, and the film was directed by Choreographer Michael Maurissens. The Belgian native began his dance education in Brussels. After which he studied dance at the Heinz-Bosl Foundation in Munich 1991-1992 and at the Swiss Ballet Vocational School in Zurich from 1992-1993. He has worked, among others, with Amanda Miller, William Forsythe, Katy Duck, Hideto Heshiki, Martin Sonderkamp, Dominique Dumais, and Georg Reischl. In 2009, he and his colleague Douglas Bateman founded the MichaelDouglas Collective.
