Stratosphere Games, a mobile game studio focusing on core mobile games in Berlin, is looking for a Game Systems Designer to support one of our core titles on mobile.
You will be part of an enthusiastic, dedicated, young team experienced in mobile game development.

As a Game Systems Designer, you will play a key role in the game design and development process, translating high level game concepts into complex models of mechanics, systems and economy. You should have a strong working knowledge of game systems and how they relate to the core game experience and to each other. Deep understanding of the game’s “meta” features is needed as well as an ability to balance and tune each system.
You should be experienced in mobile game design and have a strong understanding of the current mobile game market, including monetization and social aspects of mobile games. You will work with a team of designers and game developers and will be supported by senior staff.

Model complex game economies based on high-level game concepts
Design and map out game systems, game flow & balancing
Use a strong quantitative background to balance multiple variables in new feature design
Review game metrics and data, adjust economy models to tune the underlying numbers in order to optimize the experience for game players and to shape new feature designs with the cooperation of the game's senior staff
Analyze, validate and incorporate feedback from user tests & feedback into existing economy design/balance
Work closely with the game’s producer to break down a game design into manageable chunks that can be incorporated into the development schedule

At least 2-3 years of professional experience and success designing mobile-based online games with engaged player communities
Must love playing games and have a strong desire to create quality games that offer fun, long term gameplay
Must be able to submit samples of design work
A capacity to understand mathematical modeling in game design and what the numbers mean in practice
Ability to communicate (verbal, written) complex ideas and theories with clarity
You enjoy working with numbers, formulas, excel and metrics
Proven experience in the balancing of a successful game on any platform
Strong knowledge of game balancing, pacing and monetization strategies for free to play games
A creative mindset, exceptional logical and analytical capabilities, able to think from a player’s point of view
Either German or English fluently
