David MAURER c/o CHRISTA KLUBERT photographed the global campaign for the PORSCHE MACAN in Beijing, Los Angeles and Cape Town. After a sneak preview, we now present the complete series of the model which perfectly combines sportiness, design and practicality for everyday use here on GoSee. The agency is Kemper Kommunikation with Creative Director Julia Fuhl, Art Director David Beitler and Art Buyer Ferhat Düzlü.
Here is the creative interview between Christa Klubert and Art Director David Beitler about the Macan campaign on GoSee:
CK : Tell us about the campaign. What was the core idea behind it? DB : "The core idea of the campaign was to stage the Macan in the middle of urban life, on smaller side streets and in front of hip hot spots. The multiple possibilities shown in the motifs in combination with the headlines encourage to always choose the most exciting options in life to quench the thirst for adventure – of course with the Macan."
CK : Taking photos of the new Macan for Porsche is an accolade. What in your opinion makes this project so special? DB : "The special thing about this project was how it advances the new realism in Porsche's imagery a bit more. Our motifs feature a variety of lighting situations which are not necessarily typical of classic automotive campaigns, but break the mold."
CK : You shot this campaign in three countries, Los Angeles/USA, Beijing/China and Cape Town/South Africa. What were the particular challenges? DB : "Particularly challenging was dealing with the time shifts and different climatic conditions of the individual locations. Complicating matters in Beijing were the language barrier and the narrow streets."
CK : Is there a funny anecdote about the shoot you would like to share? DB : "I'll never forget the closing dinner with the crew in Beijing. The production assistant was asked to order the typical cuisine of the country. We didn't know if it was a well-intended gesture, or if he wanted to mess with us. The restaurant's entire menu from top to bottom or more was served at the table so that they even had to stack the plates. I've never seen or eaten so much delicious food at one time."
CK : In your opinion, what makes David's imagery so special and which ultimately led to this collaboration? DB : "David has a keen sense for locations and how they change according to the different positions of the sun. He has the courage to try new things, even if can mean that everything might get a bit more time-consuming and complicated."
CK : What do you like most about working with David? Which part did you enjoy most of all during the shoot? DB : "David ticks like me. I think we are both perfectionists and want to get the maximum out of every motif. We are on the same wavelength, and I have the good feeling of working with a friend no matter the time of day or night, whether on set or on the phone."
