Taking place from 21 thru 30 September, 2018, is once again a multifaceted festival of photography in Cologne. Photoszene is looking forward to several high-profile photography exhibitions at venues including Museum Ludwig, in the Photographic Collection/SK Foundation Culture, in the Käthe Kollwitz Museum, in the Artothek, in the Forum for Photography, in Gallery Parrotta Contemporary Art, in the art spaces of the Michael Horbach Foundation, in selected inner city churches and in numerous other galleries and art spaces throughout the city. Registrations are still accepted thru 15 May!
The MAKK – Museum of Applied Arts Cologne is becoming the meeting place for fans of illustrated books: Among this year's guests are the Dummy Award and the Photobook Award from Kassel! And Hotel Maison Marsil is also pleased to be a cooperation partner. If you are still looking for an event location for an exhibition project, would like to organize a party for Photokina or is simply looking for a home away from home in Cologne, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Photoszene Residency Artist meets Archive is the central program of the upcoming Photoszene Festivals 2018 and 2019, which will showcase the significant diversity and quality of photography in the city's collections and archives through exchange with international artists. Photoszene is delighted to already announce the invited artists: Erik Kessels (NL), Ola Kolehmainen (FIN), Ronit Porat (ISR), Fiona Tan (NL / IND), Roselyne Titaud (F) and Antje van Wichelen (BE).
Dutch artist, designer, publisher and curator Erik Kessels (* 1966) is known internationally for his humorous, clever and trenchant exploration of photography and found footage. He will dedicate his contribution to a previously unpublished collection of works at the MAKK – Museum of Applied Arts Cologne.
Plus: With new themes, a new schedule and shorter duration, PHOTOKINA, the leading trade fair worldwide for imaging, is starting a new era from 26 thru 29 September, 2018. From 2018, it will take place annually. This will enable it to optimally reflect the fast pace and the ever shorter innovation cycles of an increasingly digitized industry. In addition, the trade fair has a new date in May from 2019. Photokina 2019 will take place from Wednesday, 08 May to Saturday, 11 May, 2019. And PHOTOSZENE is also organizing its festival in parallel.
