On Thursday 6 April in Hamburg's Kehrwieder theater, the communication association awarded DIE KLAPPE for the 37th time at the most important competition for advertizing films from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Host of the evening was Chairman of the jury, Christian C. Rätsch from Saatchi & Saatchi, who just as competently as cheerfully led through the 2017 award show which was sold out with an audience of almost 300 guests. A total of 76 prizes were awarded.

Alongside creatives from advertising agencies and industry professionals (media, directing, filmmaking, post production) in the 30-member expert jury chaired by Preethi Mariappan, SapientRazorfish, and Christian C. Rätsch, Saatchi & Saatchi, were also direct clients such as Peter Drobil/Bank Austria, Sascha Glock/Redblue Marketing, Sevilay Gökkaya/Toyota Deutschland GmbH, Antje Neubauer/Deutsche Bahn AG, and Anne Stilling/Vodafone. This ensemble guaranteed the greatest possible objectivity and competence when it comes to evaluating the individual contributions.

In the main competition of DIE KLAPPE for all moving image advertising formats (factor 2 in the creativity ranking for agencies), the jury chose a total of 76 films out of 320 submitted works. The film "Laughing Horses" by Grabarz & Partner/CZAR Film took home a total of three Golden KLAPPEN awards for the client Volkswagen AG. The spot previously received an award in the category Best Script at the German Advertising Film Awards. Gold also went to Leo's Thjnk Tank for the McDonald's spot "French Fry Forest" (production: E+P) as well as Loved/Thjnk for the Audi film "Rodeo". A total of 16 Klappen awards were taken home by Heimat.

Casting director, presenter and GoSee family member Rolf Scheider was on location – and here is his resume: “The theater was sold out, and there was rarely such a rush on the tickets. Nonetheless, Die Klappe still remains a down-to-earth event, up-close with creatives and a platform for discussions and networking. The members of the jury come from different areas, so the selection of the films was good, some of which I had not known yet. The prizes naturally kept on coming as usual, and some agencies didn't know where they should put the awards to take home.”

We have photos from the award ceremony for you on GoSee, all winner commercials, and more photos are available via DIE KLAPPE. Plus, Rolf presents us a great look back on this year's Klappe 2017 in moving images.
