Charlotte Flossaut, Art Director and founder of PHOTO DOC, has shouted out an open call for the Photo Doc international documentary photography fair each year since 2018. In 2020, it is themed upon the topic of Intimacy: “We organize an open call with a different theme each year. We seek to highlight the rich breadth and depth of approaches and creativity in contemporary documentary photography. The winner will be announced at the Photo Doc fair.” In which way the salon will take place in times of Corona we do not know, but the best works will be on display via photodocparis.com.
On the jury alongside Charlotte Flossaut this year are Valentine Zeler (In Frame), Elsa Seignol (Revers Edition), Rachel Barker (Stanley-Barker), Simon Lourié (PCP Labo Photo), Lidwine Kervella (Courrier International), and Anaïs Viand (Fisheye Magazine). Deadline is 10 April.
“Considering the theme, it seems essential to us that each photographer writes a short text precisely related to the photos she or he will be presenting, to properly convey the power of the intimate conveyed in the series. To make known and transmit what happened, what was shared, reveal what was experienced during the making of each series, and which consequently, could produce a paradigm shift. Welcome to new forms of visual approaches. The jury will be sensitive to the relevance of the series regarding the theme, the coherence of the intent, the photographic quality, and the commitment of the photographer. Winners will be announced during the international Photo Doc fair from 24 – 26 April. / Halle des Blancs Manteaux, 75004 Paris.”
