Following Milan and London, illustrator Carlo Stanga c/o 2AGENTEN takes readers on a tour of New York – to Times Square, the Apollo Theater, the Highline, Ellis Island, the Brooklyn Bridge, 5th Avenue, MOMA, the New Museum, and Guggenheim. 'His playful illustrations and intimate anecdotes showcase the personalities of cities and the idiosyncrasies that make them unique. From the Chrysler Building to the bagel, I Am New York is an illustrated journey of the Big Apple like no other. Stanga's love letter to New York captures the magic of the city,' says Moleskine.
'New York is a bit of a braggart and a snob but also fresh, fun and has a keen critical perspective on the world. It is, as Saul Steinberg illustrated in an extraordinary New Yorker cover, very egocentric, convinced that the rest of the world is provincial,' Carlo reveals in an interview about the book with Abitare.
Born in Italy, Carlo has always had a deep passion for drawing. After studying architecture at the Polytechnic College of Milan, he worked with Italian designer Bruno Munari, which influenced his view of the world. As a successful illustrator, Carlo Satnag worked with major Italian magazines and newspapers as well as international clients in Europe and the US. His distinctive style has already brought him several international awards.
In 2015 he wrote and illustrated 'I am Milan', followed by 'I am London' and 'I am New York', the collection of books published by Moleskine which are dedicated to the most important cities in the world. Carlo lives and works in Berlin. His clients also include La Repubblica, L'Espresso, Il Sole 24ore, Io Donna, Abitare, Brioni, Trussardi, Unesco, Club Med, Fnac, Moleskine, Missoni, Zanotta, Poliform, Condé Nast, MTA New York, Wirtschaftswoche, Nestlé, Board, Goethe Institut, Lufthansa, Illy, Bompiani, Rizzoli, and the Wall Street Journal.
