South African production company BAKER KENT specializes in fashion and advertising shoots as well as photo and film production across the African continent and islands of the Indian Ocean. Its success is not random either: Owners Rob and Scott, both African-born and intrepid travelers, love to show clients their favorite spots. Rob lived previously in London for 11 years working with Mario Testino and Art Partner, and Scott owned and ran a photo agency and production company in Dubai before they teamed up. We are delighted to welcome BAKER KENT as an exhibitor at UPDATE17 in Berlin, where they will employ all of their charm and expertise to show that next to Cape Town, Botswana, Kenya, Lamu Island, Madagascar, Nigeria, Reunion Island, Senegal or Zanzibar are also dream locations for stills & film. Here on GoSee is the latest news from BAKER KENT.
BAKER KENT brings you the cover spread for VOGUE US with Mario Testino here on GoSee, which they produced a while ago in Cape Town. “Shot in the second biggest city in Kenya, Kisumu is the home of Lupita Nyongo. We visited her in and around her humble beginnings. With a full fashion crew out of London and New York descending on what is essentially a sleepy rural village made for many excited kids and village locals. In true Testino fashion, he worked the environment as if he had lived there all his life. Testino’s charisma encapsulated the locals, Lupita and her family. Lupita eased into the shoot, getting on with Testino wasn’t difficult and the pictures are proof of that. Traveling to beautiful locations to capture these images made for an amazing trip on roads less traveled. Kit Mikayi was a hit with both the crew and the locals. It’s an impressive rock formation 23 km outside the main town of Kisumu. With various religious practices taking place everyday at Kit Mikayi. It’s a location held dear to many locals in the area. Team Vogue had an amazing, different and humbling experience, definitely one for the books.”
