    AUTOMOTIVE RETOUCHER

    Reporting To – Head of 2D in London; Josh Rogers

    As an Automotive Retoucher you will be ina creative and technical role, assisting and sometimes leading the effective delivery of 2D Auto projects. Working with other members of the Taylor James Automotive Retouch team across LA, London and Berlin, your time will be spent retouching images and ensuring the final creative quality of projects produced is of the highest quality. You will be expected to learn the methodology, practices and processes of Taylor James’s retouch pipeline. At every opportunity you will be expected to push your learning and abilities to continually develop as a Retoucher.

    MAIN ASPECTS OF THE ROLE:

    Retouch
    - Produce highest quality retouched and composited files for print and animation.
    - Understand and follow the Taylor James pipeline and processes.
    - Display a good creative vision and eye for photorealism.
    - Retouch with CGI.
    - Understand, adopt and help further enhance our internal Automotive Pipeline.
    - Retouch on photography shoots.

    Pitching and Project Management
    - Work with Sales team and Producers to accurately compile production timings.
    - Work with your team to develop strategic creative solutions for clients at pitching and pre-production stages..
    - Learn to evaluate client briefs and actively suggest best practice solutions.
    - Working with senior staff to run a job from briefing/concept stage to final delivery.
    - Direct small internal photographic productions.
    - Set up and run the final delivery of all CMYK production and GMG proofs.
    - Flexibility to travel globally for productions,
    - Taylor James Stock Library - Have the ability to search and create lightbox collections.
    - Good communication, team management and leadership by example.
    - Communicate with the Production team so they are aware of workloads, schedules, changes and any additional work/costs.
    - When appropriate delegate relevant work, giving clear briefs and then oversee colleagues.

    Client Management
    - As part of your continued development we will occasionally put you in a position to deal directly with clients and run small projects from start to finish.

    Staff management
    - On occasions supervise activities undertaken by retouch employees (internal staff and freelancers).
    - Encourage and coach others to improve their personal development, maintain and promote team morale.
    - Absorb job pressures and maintain clarity and energy levels in team.
    - Effective communication of top level decisions and activities where needed.
    - Occasionally manage of all internships, placements, other resources.


    Technical Requirements
    - 3+ years professional experience in retouch & CGI production for print, strong working knowledge of core Retouch software packages and related practices
    - Expert use of Adobe Photoshop CSS and readiness to gain expertise in future versions
    - Proficient use of Adobe InDesign and Acrobat, plus an understanding of Illustrator
    - Proficient use of Microsoft Office - Word, PowerPoint, Excel
    - Professional expertise of studio and location-based photography capture requirements and setups, including Capture One processing and HDRi capture
    - Understanding of CGI post-production production processes for print
    - Fluent native German speaker, with proficient level of English necessary for inter-studio communication

    Reporting To – Director of EMEA Business Development

    Taylor James is recruiting an experienced Producer to join our recently opened Berlin studio as part of our ongoing expansion. With responsibility for ensuring the smooth running and successful planning, management and delivery of multiple consecutive mixed media projects through the studio to varied endpoints and platforms.

    Reporting to the Director of EMEA Business Development you will need to be able to manage client relations and expectations, encourage collaboration and be insightful of their needs, solution-oriented and ensure the highest creative quality.

    This role would suit an experienced Post or Animation Producer, a team player with a proven track record. The projects will include VFX, CGI, Retouch, Animation, Design and MGFX projects, along with print and digital projects and your main base will be in our digital studio.

    The duties necessary within this role include but are not limited:

    - Planning, tracking and monitoring multiple projects where you will be required to assess the client’s needs, participate in the creative pitch process and treatments, define scope of work, budget, schedule, resource and run projects; provide project updates and progress reports.

    - Organising and leading project meetings with Supervisors and Creative Directors, assisting in resourcing projects and covering off any technical requirements. Helping to research and book freelancers, arrange outsourcing and other vendors, negotiating any scheduling conflicts within your department.

    - Reporting on all creative, budgetary, scheduling, resourcing, admin and contractual aspects of projects and bookings within the studio.

    - Identifying and developing business opportunities and revenue streams within the production process and maintaining client relationships with the wider team to facilitate repeat business.

    - Assisting with client acquisition and retention through a range of activities: sales outreach, face to face meetings, events, networking, etc.

    REQUIREMENTS

    - Solution-oriented and insightful about our clients’ needs, with an eye for detail, creative excellence and an aim to exceed expectations.
    - Excellent project management and communication skills and you will be required to effectively and efficiently plan, lead, produce and deliver projects.
    - Confidence in the planning, budgeting and creative and financial management of varied creative projects, integrated production principals and delivering content across current and emerging media channels and end points.
    - Work with Production Co-ordinators and the broader team to ensure the successful delivery of projects and shots.

    TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

    In addition to being a highly motivated, organized multitasker with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the following technical skills are a must:

    - 3+ years professional experience and knowledge as a producer in post-production, retouch or animation
    - Keen interest and understanding of photography, live action, design, animation, motion, VFX and print workflow and related practices.
    - Understanding of live-action shoots, planning and production techniques
    - Experience working directly with clients/directors and of leading teams
    - Capable of motivating and leading a team with enthusiasm and clarity
    - Good knowledge of project management systems and procedures specific to retouch and animation
    - Proficient use of Microsoft Office, Word, PowerPoint & Excel
    - Practical understanding of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat
    - Fluent native German speaker, with proficient level of English necessary for inter-studio communication

    CREATIVE DIRECTOR

    Reporting to: Brendan Haley – Executive Creative Director

    The Creative Director’s role is to direct and supervise projects from concept to final delivery, incorporating CGI, VFX, motion graphics, live-action, photographic and compositing methodologies.

    Working directly with clients to firstly engage, build the creative vision and then guide the production to that agreed goal, the Creative Director is ultimately responsible for the quality of the final creative work. Duties will also include working on portfolio pieces that add strategic value to our brand as well as working with the Sales teams to produce content to help win future business.

    MAIN ASPECTS OF THE ROLE:

    Pitches Process
    - Engaging with clients on calls/emails/meetings to interpret the requirements and expectations to then develop proposed creative (and potentially technical) approaches that align with the defined brief.
    - Working individually or bringing together the right team. You will also need to evidence a good understanding of the production process within every pitch.
    - Working closely with Producers on bidding, pipelines, financial planning and finding creative solutions to deliver within budget.

    Live Productions
    - Taking the overarching responsibility of leading the project from a creative production process.
    - Visualising the next steps in the production chain is key to ensuring concerns are dealt with efficiently and effectively at an early stage. Foreseeing all problems and planning around potential situations.
    - Working with the Producers to plan out the complete production pipeline, validate the team of artists (help find suitable freelancers), scheduling and TD on shoot, where necessary.
    - At all times, you'll be expected to develop a good relationship with clients, from pitching through to production, leading with strong communications.

    Building the Studio
    - Working with Management, you’ll play a big role in the strategic planning of staffing the studio.
    - Finding highly skilled artists with the right attitude, across all sections of the business.
    - We will also need to improve the freelance & perm-a-lance lists. Lining up good talent to call on as projects confirm.
    - As you bring designers into the studio, you will line manage them to oversee their creative output and to help grow their careers.

    Portfolio Management
    - Managing and improving the existing company portfolio.
    - Working with sales team to, where possible, help the company get wider exposure and ultimately get onto more pitches.
    - Produce regular pitch-tests to evidence skills with new scripts, techniques and ideas.
    - Involvement in continuing and developing this work will be essential.
    - Growing the Taylor James brand, Berlin will be in close communication with London. As the company becomes more and more global, we will share staff, pipeline, kit and established work practices with our other offices (New York, L.A., Detroit).

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

    - Proficient use of Adobe Creative Suite – Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat (plus an understanding of Illustrator)
    - Understanding of 3DStudio Max v8+, Maya and compositing software (After Effects / Fusion / Combustion)
    - Basic understanding of sound engineering (Qbase, Reason)
    - Good understanding of studio and location-based photography capture requirements and setups
    - Good understanding of CGI and post-production production processes for print and animation
    - Readiness to gain knowledge of live action and green screening, including basic kit setups
    - Fluent native German speaker, with proficient level of English necessary for inter-studio communication
