London swimwear brand Alma Society launches a new collection of feminine long sleeved swimsuits, reversible rash vests and mix & match bikinis, all crafted from UPF50 fabric for women who want extra protection from the sun, without compromising style.

The Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) indicates how much UV radiation a fabric allows to reach our skin. UPF50 fabric will block 98% of the sun’s rays.

Latest research revealed that around 70% of women in Europe and the US have reported sensitive skin. Main factors identified were dermatology conditions, hormone cycles and increasingly prolonged sun exposure from UV rays.

The mission-driven fashion startup tackles sun dangers causing skin rashes, sunburns and allergies by offering choice through stylish and safe swimwear options. Founded in 2019, the company is spearheaded by entrepreneurs Sonia Martinez and Julia Moiseeva, who both battled with their own health issues exacerbated by sun exposure.

Sonia has vitiligo, a condition which means the skin doesn’t have the natural mechanism to protect against UV light. Whereas Julia has extremely fair and sensitive skin prone to sun exposure related allergies if not fully protected from UV rays.  Both have always struggled to find the perfect swimsuit that was sexy, stylish and most importantly protective of their skin.

Now with Alma Society they have given the rashvest a very feminine makeover!
