Marc van Dalen c/o The Coup

Additional Info // about Marc van Dalen

MAY WE INTRODUCE: MARC VAN DALEN
On the Edge: He escapes everyday life and captures freedom, spontaneity and, especially, naked beauties. Of course, only with his camera.

And so he does what everyone else can only dream of: the doorbell rings, he opens the door and a gorgeous stranger comes in. She takes off her clothes willingly, stretches and awaits eagerly to be photographed. His girls are deliberately untouched, natural yet demanding. They know what they’re doing, what they’re suggesting, what they want and Marc van Dalen knows how to provoke it. This is also how he developed his guiding theme „Vandalism“. For the model and the photographer are unknown allies against mediocrity, narrow-mindedness, and the rest of the world. Every photo expresses closeness and intimacy, you can feel the unique bond of trust between the photographer and his model. For Marc van Dalen, a photo shoot is a kind of game based on impulses and reactions, caught in the moment, for the observer. The results are authentic, visual dialogues and yet they were held in secrecy. This contradiction fascinated him and gave him the idea for a Polaroid photo series, its subject being sex for money. He’s looking for experiments which playfully overstep boundaries without forgetting to centre on the aesthetics. That’s why his work on his homepage is limited, he refers to the lure of the unknown with a twinkle of an eye. This gentleman who explores boundaries and takes spontaneous photos of nude people is the Alter Ego, transferring his play instinct. This is also the pseudonym of a well-established fashion and portrait photographer who has been working and living as a freelance photographer in Hamburg since 2004 and can look back on many editorial and commercial assignments for high-ranking clients.
